Enterprises
Fiechter Brothers Ag consists of several business ventures. We are continually looking for new business opportunities that maximize our sustainability. We hope these diversifications will make us a desirable business partner.
FAMILY FARM
The family farm currently manages acreage in Wells, Jay, Grant, and Huntington counties in Indiana. The farm produces mostly corn and soybeans. As a means of diversification, we also have a small percentage of our acres in alfalfa and wheat.
DRAINAGE CONSULTING AND INSTALLATION
We make it a priority to invest in equipment that allows us to improve the production and value of farms we manage. This includes the equipment needed to install sub-surface drainage systems as well as equipment that improves surface drainage. We make these services available to our landowners at reduced rates which can add significant value to their real-estate. Over the years, we have benefited many of our land owners through partnering in improvement projects. Improved soil conditions and greater yield create mutual advantage.
Benefits of installing field tile include:
-increased land value
-reduced soil erosion
-less risk for soil compaction
-more consistent yields
-better plant stand with better root system
-better soil aeration, soil structure, and nutrient utilization
-fewer plant diseases
-warmer, dryer soils lead to more timely planting and harvesting
We would appreciate the opportunity to partner with you to develop a drainage plan and cost projection tailored to your specific needs and budget.
LIVESTOCK FARMS
The world needs food. With more than 200,000 peopled added to the world population daily, this need will only continue to grow. According to a recent study, American's consume an average of 46 pounds of pork per year. Based upon these numbers, we are directly involved in providing the pork needed to fulfill approximately 315,000 consumer's annual consumption. We have found crop production combined with livestock production forms a complimentary relationship that allows us to operate in a more cost-effective and enviornmentally friendly manner.
Vince has been a partner in a sow farrow to finish opeation since 2009 called Fiechter Family Livestock. FFL currently employees 5 professionals and typically produces over 6,800,000 pounds of pork annually.
Darin and Benjamin joined forces with Paul Rumple Swine Farms in 2014. With the help of another employee, they each manage 8000 head grow to finish sites that are responsible to adding approxumately, 7,700,000 pounds of meat to the U.S. market every year.
RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT
Since 2014, Troy has been working to develop an autonomous soil sampling machine with the end goal of developing a machine that will help minimize inefficiencies and greatly improve the repeatable accuracy needed in this specific area of agriculture. Troy’s pursuit down this path captured the attention of BioTown Ag located in Reynolds, IN who offered him a job in 2015 to help develop the next generation farrow to finish hog facility. The goals of this endeavor are designed to challenge the accepted inefficiencies within the swine industry and explore new venues for swine management and production.
